Temporary Closure

On Friday, September 16, we had a devastating occurrence here, at Salem Cross Inn.  An SUV vehicle crashed through our barn and caused a great deal of damage. As a result of the accident, it is our understanding that the driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries and, we are pleased to say, no serious injuries were sustained by others who were in the room at the time.  A great many thanks goes out to our amazing West Brookfield, Brookfield and Warren First Responders who quickly responded to the accident.  Many friends also appeared, seemingly out of nowhere, to lend a hand and to give us a few much needed hugs.  We are crushed by this.  It has an effect on so many people – from all of our wonderful employees to our wedding couples and anyone holding a function here.

So, we cried our tears and then got to work figuring out how to make this better.  Our first priority is to our previously booked functions, so therefore, it is necessary for us to temporarily close our dining to the public.  Our team of incredible carpenters are working hard to get everything up to par so we can once again use our beautiful barn as quickly as is possible.

We are a family business and, believe it or not, seeing our broken barn is heartbreaking.  Our parents, aunts and uncles worked so hard all those years ago to build Salem Cross Inn to be the fine establishment that we all know and love today.  There are generations of blood, sweat and tears in this building and business and for anyone outside of our family, it is difficult to understand.  Passion and commitment are the backbone to create and maintain a business such as this.  We hope you will be patient with us.  As soon as we are given the go ahead to reopen the barn, we will let you know.

Thank you to the many people who have reached out with messages of support.  Your words mean more than you know.  Hope to see you soon!
